Canada Foreign Skilled Trades (FSTC)

Skilled Trades people who qualify for the Foreign Skilled Trades are eligible apply through the new Express Entry (EE) program.

Main requirements:

  1. A qualifying offer of employment for at least one year duration (came come from two employers) or a Certificate of Qualification from a provincial Apprenticeship Authority (or be a registered apprentice)
  2. Minimum English abilities: CLB5 for speaking & listening, CLB4 for reading and writing
  3. 24 months of same qualified work experience out of last 5 (after qualification/certification in the country where worked, where applicable)
  4. Qualifications meet NOC employment requirements (except certification or licensing)

Categories of Skilled Trades people:

  • Major Group 72: Industrial, electrical and construction trades;
  • Major Group 73: Maintenance and equipment operation trades;
  • Major Group 82: Supervisors & technical occupations in national resources, agriculture & related production;
  • Major Group 92: Processing, manufacturing & utilities supervisors & central control operators;
  • Minor Group 632: chefs and cooks;
  • Minor Group 633: butchers and bakers.
